And as I told in the other post about reiewnng the TIE: First of all I want to know when your TIE Card expire. It supposed that if your card expires on september or october. Taking in account that date you have to make your appointment 1 month before it expires. You have to make your appointment in Cataluf1a. They will never give you an appointment before that date of expiration so you can go to USA and return to Spain and they will never know that you were out of Spain in that time. I think the problem comes because you make an appointment to early(in the case that the TIE expire in sept/oct).***That was my experience because I was studying in Spain in 2007/2008 and that was the renew process in Madrid. Now I am going to be at Madrid as an Auxiliar, but obviously I need the visa because I am in USA right now.

I had a similar situation: I had lived in Spain 2 years prior to returning and had had a visa. I was applying from San Francisco, and completely forgot that I might need a background check from Spain along with the other mound of documents. The horror! It was the day of my appointment with the consulate, one month before I was supposed to leave.

Lucky for me, they said that it would be better to wait until I was in Spain to get that done, so that I could do that at the same time I applied for by residency card. That was just my experience though, and it could depend on the consulate agent you’re working with.

Does anyone know if you are supposed to put United States or Spain for the country?

The documents required for a student visa include either an FBI or a state police background check, so I plan on driving to the capital of my state to obtain this, which on the website says that it takes 30 minutes to process, as opposed to 3 months. Has anyone taken this route instead? I think it will save a lot of time.

I already have my state background check done; a notarized one is being sent in the mail to me. Can I use that instead of the FBI one to get my apostille? The lady I talked to had no idea what an apostille was so was sending me my backgrounds check notarized and said that was all she could do. Thanks!
